The Piedmont Triad Regional Development Corporation (PTRDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization tasked with implementing activities that further economic development and social welfare. The PTRDC has been designated as the Economic Development District by the US Economic Development Administration. PTRDC promotes economic development and job creation by carrying out community and economic development initiatives available to local governments and businesses in the 12-county Piedmont Triad region (Alamance, Caswell, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin Counties). The PTRC provides on-going staff and administrative support to the PTRDC.
The Development Corporation is charged with implementing the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). The CEDS is designed to help stakeholders form partnerships to leverage existing resources that will revitalize the communities of our region. Building on existing regional and local economic development plans, the CEDS strategies focus on supporting collaboration among local and regional stakeholders within the economic development community, private industry, educational institutions, local government, foundations and the private sector.
The PTRDC has launched a Business Investment Fund in an effort to bridge the gap for businesses of all sizes in the Piedmont Triad. The Business Investment Fund seeks to stimulate business development, create employment opportunities, encourage community engagements, and improve living conditions for residents in the region.
A Regional Equity Assessment study was conducted in 2023 to measure diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and identify trends. The report contains research findings and recommendations that address current social, economic, and structural conditions across our communities.
For information on these initiatives contact Wendy Walker-Fox, wwalkerfox@ptrdc.org.
Other initiatives of the PTRDC include consulting services to the private and public sector. PTRDC offers information technology support specializing in network engineering and telecommunications provision. For information on these services, contact Matt Reece, mreece@ptrdc.org
